  • This highly practical Advanced SafePath course introduces a new area of work within SafePath: understanding and strengthening emotional need fulfilment within teams.
  • Participants will learn to use the newly developed Team Emotional Needs Questionnaire (TEN-Q) to identify where important emotional needs are being fulfilled and where there may be room for improvement.
  • Using SafePath’s learn-by-doing approach, participants will apply the TEN-Q to their own team and learn how to combine the results with SafePath’s modes and strengths to support constructive dialogue and practical change.
  • This course fulfills the annual recertification requirement for SafePath trainer/coaches. Certified SafePath trainer/coaches are required to complete one recertification course each year to maintain their certification.
  • The course is intended for certified SafePath trainer/coaches and is recommended for those who have already completed More Tools in Your Toolbox.

In this highly practical course, you will learn how to work directly with emotional needs in teams using the newly developed Team Emotional Needs Questionnaire (TEN-Q). The goal is to help you understand what teams need to function well and turn these insights into constructive action.

You will learn how to:

  • Use the TEN-Q to assess emotional need fulfilment within teams
  • Identify where important needs may be going unmet and where change could have the greatest impact
  • Understand how dysfunctional modes can interfere with emotional needs and healthy team functioning
  • Integrate emotional needs with SafePath’s modes and strengths
  • Facilitate constructive conversations about unmet needs without creating blame or a culture of complaint
  • Help teams identify realistic actions that strengthen Healthy Adult functioning
  • Apply the TEN-Q to your own team and translate the results into practical next steps

The ultimate aim is to help teams become more connected, resilient, reflective, and fulfilling places to work, while creating a safer and more supportive environment for patients and clients.
