  • Participants will bring their own challenging cases for discussion, receive practical guidance and feedback, and learn from the cases presented by others.
  • The group is limited to 12 participants, and every participant will have the opportunity to present at least one case.

You will learn how to:

  • Understand overcompensating coping modes, including the Self-Aggrandizer, Conning Manipulator, Bully and Attack, and Paranoid Overcontroller
  • Recognize modes that are “hidden in plain sight”
  • Identify the subtle ways therapists accommodate clients’ modes without realizing it
  • Work with your own emotional reactions, including shame, guilt, fear, helplessness, and confusion
  • Reclaim therapeutic space through mindfulness, self-awareness, and Healthy Adult functioning
  • Set limits and use empathic confrontation effectively
  • Recognize systemic factors that maintain problematic behaviour
  • Work with clients whose moral reasoning and prosocial values are underdeveloped
  • Recognize and build clients’ strengths, even in highly challenging cases
